MASTER THESIS 2021
Digital Textiles is an exploration of tactile expressions in a virtual environment. Digital Textiles builds on new ideas on material thinking, with an emphasis on the divergence of aesthetic expressions. It explores the crossing between traditional craft and complex computer-generated structures. The idea is to reimagine how textiles are designed and made. The work consists of a collection of seven digital sculptures developed from CGI artwork of classical tartan patterns. The aim of the work is to broaden the textile design field by exploring the definition of textiles through digital materiality, with a focus on computer-generated images and surfaces in 3d software.
